Resolution

To achieve optimal results, it is recommended to submit files with a resolution of 300dpi at the desired print size. Whilst resizing the file is possible, significant enlargements will result in a poorer image.

File Formats

While JPEG and TIFF formats are preferred, we can also accept PDF and PNG.

Colour

Standard red, green, blue (RGB) is the colour space commonly used on the internet, most computer monitors and mobile devices. Adobe RGB 1998 colour space offers a gamut that is over 30% larger than standard RGB, resulting in a broader range of colours that tend to be more vibrant. If your images are destined for the web or screen viewing only then standard RGB is fine, but for printing we recommend Adobe RGB.

Modern computer monitors generally provide satisfactory colour accuracy. However, colour accuracy can deteriorate over time, and environmental factors such as a poorly positioned bright light source or a sun-filled window close to the monitor can impact colour perception. To achieve accurate colour representation on your screen, investing in a colour calibration tool is a viable option, which is available at reasonable prices. A wealth of websites providing unbiased and helpful information is also available.

Soft proofing

Soft proofing is a technique that enables you to evaluate an accurate representation of the printed item on your monitor before committing to print, saving on ink and paper. To make this method effective, it is necessary to consider the factors mentioned above.  For the paper and printer types we use, we provide ICC profiles that you can download.
